Tom McAndrew

Tom has been a member of the Pennsylvania State Police for over twenty-four years.  Since 1998 he has been a member the Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit where his primary duties include the investigation of homicides and major cases, the investigation of cold case homicides, and the behavioral assessment of crime scenes. He is stationed at Troop N Headquarters which is located in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.  In 2002, Tom was promoted to the rank of Corporal. 

Tom is one of only ten Amber Alert Designees in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who routinely assist on cases involving missing or abducted children and who make the determination if an activation of the Pennsylvania Emergency Alert System is warranted.

Since 2004, Tom has served as president of the Pennsylvania Homicide Investigator’s Association. Tom is also a member of the Vidocq Society, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, is a consulting committee member with the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases, is a member of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts, and is past vice-president of Middle Atlantic Cold Case Homicide Investigator’s Association.  Throughout his career he has been involved in numerous cold case arrests and prosecutions. 

Tom is a former member of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Forensic Services Unit, and Patrol Unit. Prior to enlisting in the Pennsylvania State Police, he was a municipal police officer.

Tom is a graduate of Desales University.  Tom also has a Master’s Degree from Desales University with a concentration in Investigative Forensics.
